If your driver’s license is suspended for non-payment of City of Chicago parking tickets, the hold on your license will be lifted upon filing of the chapter 7 bankruptcy, acceptance into Chicago’s “Fresh start” program, and payment of the required initial deposit.

This is great news, not only can you get rid of your old tickets, you can pay off any that you received in the last 3 years with an affordable repayment plan, plus getting rid of the extra charges tacked on (that doubling of the penalties can really suck!)

If your tickets are more than 3 years old, Chicago will clear them. Great!! If your tickets are within the last 3 years, you can get onto a repayment plan for just for the actual amount of the ticket, none of that doubling, tripling, penalties, fines, extra stuff they tack on. Once you complete that, then all that extra junk is going to be cleared and anything from prior to 3 years ago would be discharged in that chapter 7.

As of January 1, 2019 you are able to discharge certain parking tickets from the city of Chicago in a chapter 7 bankruptcy. Yes, you heard me right. Previously you had to file chapter 13 bankruptcy, get on a 3 to 5 year repayment plan. Not anymore.
